Human beings are occupying world lands rapidly and treacherously destroying the environment to live in for themselves and for other creatures. Rapid growth in population is consider as a consistent challenge for the world today. For the same reason the distribution of necessary services such as health and education is affected. Furthermore, issues like unemployment, inflation, low economic growth, immigration, food security, environmental and energy crises and more importantly child labor are continuously existing in under-developing countries.
The consumption of resources unequally or unfair manner obviously as a result of no deliberate planning. Some advocate the point that limit resources and its effective utilization are the major issue need to resolved. There must be an equal right for all citizens to get a clean environment, clean water, safety from heavy rains (floods) and rise of temperature, and like vise deleterious situations. These issues are alarming to think for tomorrow to save lives or at least control on priority. So, over-population is because that creates major socio-economic problems, internal trauma and clashes for resources. The roots of population issues also followed by some religious, social, cultural explanations.
The population of the world according to Population Reference Bureau census 2017 was 7.5 billion people. The growth rate is about 1.7% per year which is an estimated 82 million people. The increase in population means a decrease in resources is a considerable fact for the world today. We are suffering from acute water scarcity, the heavy traffic load on roads, unemployment and poverty, conflicts, violence, poor quality of health and education, increase in criminal activities are the main causes of overpopulation. Ingestion of resources brutally led the overflow of prices and uneasy access to everybody is creating trouble.
Authorities are taking taxes but for the little revenue, they are producing substantial losses for tomorrow. For example, the government should make intercity trains or a better transport system to avoid huge traffic flows on roads. This may also cause less consumption of gasoline would be reduced that accommodating for a better environment and help in the consumption of more resources. However, the transport system working privately is quite better than public mass transits e.g. public railways (time-consuming) needs improvement.
It is untrue that our government is doing nothing for the better life of people today and for tomorrow. But, unfortunately, they are not up to the mark in the sense that working without proper planning. The bad governance evades planning and not assuring the check & balance element and forecast that something might be more hazardous than profit actually. After agriculture, factories are the main source of economy and provide opportunities of employment. But on the other side, these are abolishing the environment. There are set policies and standards for the protection of the atmosphere again then implementation is almost zero. Individually we are so suffocated not to feel any responsibility, lack of guidance and motivation is almost missing. We always try to facilitate ourselves, drop garbage where no one could see, travel individually (own vehicles) then in collect trips.
Such a state of the environment is still habitable but for the limited time. It is the need of time to take responsibility and initiative to enhance and effectively utilize the resources. However, over-population have both advantages and disadvantages, depending upon how actively the government and individual can manage. Beyond the disadvantage, if the population can treat as factual strength, finding alternative means rather than consumption of resources. Moreover the skilled workers provides a great competitive edge for economic development. The progress of a country lies in 3P’s i.e. population, pollution and poverty, this will be helpful in reordering the countries’ progress.
The population may increase from 7.7 billion currently to 9.8 billion in 2050. ‘Humans already consume more than half of the world’s renewable resources’ (dw.com). There is a need for smart work, optimist thinking and genuine planning to control over-population. Because these factors directly impacts consumption of resources and environment. Motivate farmers for modern and safe farming approaches i.e. tunnel or vertical farming that consume fewer resources with high productivity without using pesticides. The focus of such strategic planning and implementation should be the third-world countries of Asia and Africa with the cooperation of developed countries to save whole the world.
